Ultrasonographic evaluation of pelvic pain in first trimester of pregnancy: a prospective study

Background: Early and accurate diagnosis of the cause pelvic pain in first trimester pregnancy is essential for appropriate clinical decision making thereby enabling correct timely management. The aim study was to evaluate role ultrasonography evaluation various causes correlate imaging findings with clinical/per-operative findings. Methods: This a prospective observational approved by Institutional Review Board conducted from November 2016 March 2018. 67 patients their trimester, attending antenatal clinic or OBG emergency underwent were correlated Results: Ectopic pregnancies formed largest individual group comprising 45 (67.2%) cases total population followed spontaneous abortion 5(7.5%). Other included subchorionic haemorrhage, ovarian torsion, uterine fibroid, simple/haemorrhagic/dermoid cyst ovary acute appendicitis. 4 (6%) had normal intrauterine pregnancy. Conclusions: Ultrasonography has high diagnostic accuracy 94% 100% sensitivity detecting pain.
